Schoolgirl poison plot: Chemicals found in locker
Shocking new details have emerged of a plot by students at a girls’ school to murder a fellow student.
The Herald Sun has today revealed two girls from the northern suburbs high school had obtained chemicals intended to poison a fellow female student by spiking a drink bottle.
It was foiled when teachers discovered the chemicals in a locker.
Police investigated the incident but the target did not want to proceed with the complaint.
Shadow Minister for Education Tim Smith told 3AW parents would be horrified to know that the students involved were only suspended, and that the matter was taken any further by police.
“The children concerned should’ve been expelled and there should’ve been a police investigation,” Mr Smith said.
“I understand there was a police investigation, but we need to get some sort of context about why it didn’t proceed.”
Education Minister James Merlino says correct processes were followed.
“The students were immediately suspended, Victoria Police were immediately notified, police investigated,” he said.
“That’s what parents want to see, that’s what students want to see, and that’s what happened.”
