Tiger snake slithers its way through the CBD
The man who captured a tiger snake in Melbourne’s CBD doesn’t expect it to survive.
Pedestrians walking across down Spencer Street got a shock on Thursday when noticed the slippery customer at the Collins St corner.
Police and City of Melbourne crowd controllers cordoned off one lane of traffic and part of the footpath while the snake lay motionless, but alive, in the gutter.
Snake-catcher Barry Goldsmith was called in to remove the reptile.
He told Tom Elliott the snake had been run over and was taken to a vet clinic.
“It didn’t seem like it was going to survive,” he said.
