There was heartbreak overnight for Australian aerial skier David Morris who was controversially eliminated from the finals of the men’s aerials
Morrison, who won silver at Sochi, finished 10th, one position outside the final after China’s Jia Zongyang controversially scored higher despite falling from his skis.
The judges controversially determined the fall was outside the four-metre jump zone.
Jia went on to win silver.
Morris, a three-time Olympian, has been trying to purely focus on competition after his mother was diagnosed with cancer.
But David’s father Shane says he’s now letting himself be sad about his mum’s diagnosis with his Olympics campaign is over
“Someone asked me days and days ago how things were going and I said ‘When’s Dave’s finished it will all come out’,” he said.
“He’s partitioned it, and when he could stop thinking about this, everything else flooded in.
“And that’s how it should be.”
