Gas pipe explosion leaves two injured in Bacchus Marsh
A teenager has been left with burns after a series of explosions in Bacchus Marsh when a gas pipe ruptured.
The CFA says an underground explosion occured around 1.30pm near Osborne Street, Maddingley.
It’s believed the initial gas explosion triggered a second explosion on nearby Griffith Street.
Most of the residents in the suburb of Maddingley have been evacuated.
The teenager was seriously injured and another person has been injured in the incident.
Caller Andy told Tom Elliott he heard a number of explosions, one which shook his house.
Channel 7 reporter Dean Felton said a man was working on an open drain using an angle grinder when the incident happened.
“A witness that I’ve spoken to said they saw flames coming out of the drain,” he said.
Motorists are urged to avoid the area.
