Wedge-tailed eagles are known to feed on rabbits and roadkill, but now dogs might be on the menu.

The Rumour File heard on Monday there may be an increase in dogs being taken by Australia’s largest bird of prey.

3AW Breakfast’s eagle expert Rupert Baker from Healesville Sanctuary said it’s possible, but not likely.

“Often they take things which are already dead,” Mr Baker said.

Mr Baker said eagles are a generalist bird, which means they adapt to whatever prey is in their environment.
