Melbourne is experiencing a huge boom of cruise ships visiting our shores.

According to a report in the Herald Sun, Melbourne hosted 111 cruise ships in the past financial year, reaping the rewards of a booming cruise ship industry.

Anne Rogers from Wings Away Travel told Ross and John Melbourne’s tourism industry benefited from the seasonal turnaround of cruise liners.

“All of the shipping companies in the world come down here at some point, particularly at this point of the year,” she said on 3AW Breakfast.

Ross and John also played a game of travel lotto, asking the travel expert how long a tourist should spend in cities of the world.

• Hong Kong – 1 day town
• London – 7 day town
• Sydney – 1 day town

As for Melbourne?

“It’s a lifetime town!”
