VicRoads begins truck ban trial on the Monash
Trucks are temporarily being banned from a section of the Monash Freeway.
Starting Monday, trucks will be banned from the right-hand lane of the freeway between Huntingdale Road and Jacksons Road.
The trial will run for nine months.
VicRoads’ acting CEO Peter Todd told Neil Mitchell lane-changing increases the crash rate.
“We’re hoping that… this will reduce side-swipes and rear-end crashes,” he said.
Mr Todd said VicRoads wants to hear feedback from truck drivers about how the trial is going.
