There are reports a fake doctor is allegedly working in the Werribee area.

Health authorities are warning patients who visited the Werribee Cosmetic Clinic to seek advice from their GP following concerns a person allegedly posed as a registered health practitioner.

It’s believed the consultations occurred between January 2013 and October 2016.

It’s understood at least 145 patients may be affected, with letters being sent out to alert them to the situation.

In a statement, Executive Director of Strategy and Policy at the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, Mr Chris Robertson, said anyone with concerns that someone has been pretending to be a registered medical practitioner when they are not, should contact AHPRA.

‘It’s important that patients know that when they see a registered practitioner, they are seeing someone who has met high, national standards and are held to account if they deviate from them’, he said.

It is a statutory offence to present as a registered health practitioner when you’re not. The matter is still under investigation.
