Commuters suffer in searing heat on packed trains
It’s been a dramatic night on the train network, with two signal faults on the Geelong line keeping passengers stuck on a packed, hot train.
3AW received multiple reports of trouble after 6pm on Thursday.
Passengers reported being stuck on a full train with poor air-conditioning and concerned commuters.
VLine later confirmed two signal faults, at Corio and Lara, were causing delays of up to an hour.
Melbourne and surrounds roasted in heat of up to 40 degrees throughout the day, with the temperature still 38 degrees at 7pm.
Almost every line across Melbourne was impacted by delays at some point on Thursday evening.
