A man has started a petition to replace the incoming Apple store in Federation Square with “the one and only retailer that should be built on the sacred site”.

Nick Price has started a Change.org petition to build a Bunnings store in the square instead of the tech giant.

Nick told Justin and Kate the news that Apple would be moving into a public space didn’t sit right with him.

“It rubbed me up the wrong way,” he said.

“I thought what would be better, what would be more Australian than having Bunnings Warehouse at Fed Square.”

He did admit he might have ulterior motives.

“It is 100 per cent about getting $2.50 snags at Fed Square,” he said.
