Warning for Victory fans who want to boo Tim Cahill
Melbourne City midfielder Nick Fitzgerald has a warning for Victory fans who want to boo Tim Cahill: it only makes him more dangerous.
Cahill may be a national football treasure, but once he signed for City, he stamped himself as a villain for Victory fans.
Despite all the goals he’s scored for the Socceroos, opposition fans have given themselves licence to boo him while he’s wearing a City shirt.
But Fitzgerald told Sports Today it might not be the best idea.
‘We saw in the FFA Cup Final, the Sydney FC fans were booing him, and he stepped up and scored the winning goal,’ Fitzgerald said on Thursday night.
‘It just gives him that much more incentive to go out and score.’
Victory fans heading to AAMI Park for Saturday’s derby can consider themselves warned.
