Man who came to aid of couple struck in fatal crash thanked by family
A man who came to the aid of a couple struck by a car while they were out walking the dog on Saturday says he wasn’t alone in trying to help.
A man was killed and his partner seriously injured in the smash at Seville.
Andrew Jonas told Neil Mitchell he was out shopping for a Christmas tree with his family when he heard a bang.
He quickly rushed to the scene.
“She was very badly injured when we got to her,” he said.
With the help of two other men, he then made sure the alleged driver didn’t try and flee.
A 27-year-old Monbulk man has since been arrested and charged with dangerous driving causing death and dangerous driving causing serious injury.
“I had to walk away by that stage because I was so angry,” he said.
Mr Jonas said several others played a part, managing traffic and rushing the dog to the vet.
Kylie, a niece of the woman hurt in the crash, rang in to thank Andrew.
“We really do appreciate everything you’ve done,” she said.
