Consumers urged to report shops with excessive credit card surcharges
The ACCC wants you to report excessive credit card surcharges.
As of September 1, it is illegal for businesses to charge excessive surcharges when shoppers pay with credit cards, and the ACCC has already received over 1,100 complaints.
And the consumer watchdog is calling on consumers to keep them coming.
“They can only charge you what it costs them,” Deputy Chairman Michael Schaper told Tom Elliott.
