“To be the favourite is a bit of extra pressure”: Marmelo’s trainer Hughie Morrison
There’s a new Melbourne Cup favourite… a British horse called Marmelo.
The five-year-old horse caught the eye of punters after an impressive Caulfield Cup run last month.
Ross was at Derby Day on the weekend and got talking to a man who turned out to be Marmelo’s trainer, Hughie Morrison.
On the show this morning Ross and John spoke to him ahead of this afternoon’s big race.
He said that there was a lot of pressure on Marmelo to perform today.
“To be the favourite is a bit of extra pressure, but at the end of the day the horse doesn’t know that.”
Hughie said there are some other British horses: Tiberian, Wall Of Fire, Max Dynamite and Johannes Vermeer, which are also in with a chance today.
