KATE’S THIS WEEK IN EATS: January 14
VINTAGE VIEWS – We love a view, and you can’t do much better than the vista from the Bellarine’s Terindah Estate Winery, so if you need an excuse to enjoy it, try the Terindah Estate Vintage Festival, which will take place on Saturday 21st January. There’s be live music, an evening light show, French share plates, and of course stunning wine. It all starts at 7pm, more info at www.terindahestate.com.
Simple Minds and The B-52??s
A FEED ON THE GREEN – the A Day on the Green concerts are always crackers, and the next one shouldn’t be any different, but rather than just enjoying the afternoon on the grass, you could be in Rochford’s terrific restaurant making the most of a VIP concert and dining package. $350 will get you the stellar performance from Simple Minds and The B-52’s, plus a three-course meal and all beverages provided, reserved seating in an exclusive sectioned off area in front of the stage and access to the Rochford Restaurant facilities (ooooh, no queues for the loo!). www.rochfordwines.com.au
Have a feed at Crown’s Spice Temple!
HAPPY NEW YEAR 2.0 – Chinese New Year is rapidly approaching, and of course there will be plenty of options, but one of my all time favourite Chinese restaurants is Crown’s Spice Temple. Neil Perry and co have devised a special Chinese New Year banquet menu that’ll be on offer from 23 January to 5 February, with ingredients that promote health, wealth and prosperity during New Year festivities. Priced at $120 per person, the Chinese New Year menu will be available at lunch and dinner, with lion dancing and a fireworks display on Saturday, 28 January. A wine match for each dish will be available for an additional $55 per person.
Pure South
PURE TENNIS – Heading to the Australian Open? Haven’t had a look at the renovated Pure South at Southgate yet? How about combining the two!? They’re offering great lunch and dinner packages that include a feed, drink, and water taxi to Rod Laver; or for the day session, have a quick breakfast, coffee and water taxi to the stadium for just $25. FEELING FRENCHY – looking for something to do tomorrow? I’m off to So Frenchy So Chic at Werribee Mansion in a racy Renault, looking forward to enjoying some French music and gastronomic treats. Tickets still available – www.sofrenchysochic.com.au
