AMA plan to give prisoners clean syringes slammed by authorities

A new plan by doctors to reduce the spread of HIV in prisons has been slammed by authorities.
The Australian Medical Association wants prisoners to be given syringes to inject themselves with ice or heroin, in a bid to reduce the spread of the disease.
But authorities have hit back.
They say prisons are a place for rehabilitation, not drug use.
