Driverless cars almost certainly look the way of the future.

But at what point would you trust one to get you home safely?

A number of questions have been raised as technology advances.

An independent advisory board called the The National Transport Commission is looking at the issue.

They’ve released a discussion paper, questioning whether people in driverless cars should be exempt from drink-driving laws.

“The question is at what point does the person become a passenger, not a driver,” project manager Marcus Burke asked Neil Mitchell.
