RUMOUR CONFIRMED: A body has been found on Chelsea Beach this morning.

The body, believed to be male, was found by walkers about 6.30am.

The person was found face-down, about 40 metres from the Chelsea Pier.

Police were called and attempted to resuscitate the person, but were unsuccessful.

The person has not yet been identified.

The cause of death is not yet known

Police have not yet said whether they are treating the death as suspicious.
