Why the Great Ocean Road is going bilingual
An idea from a road safety worker has led to a system that warns Chinese tourists of dangers on the Great Ocean Road.
Matt, a road safety worker, has been using Google translate on his phone to manually translate signs for tourists. The company he works for, Fulton Hogan, has picked up on his idea and are now rolling out bilingual signage along the popular Victorian tourist route.

This morning Ross and John spoke to Victorian Roads Minister Luke Donnellan, about the idea.
He said that the bilingual signage is currently only in use on four work crew trucks, but the scheme will “continue to be rolled out to ensure we welcome tourists and the opportunities they provide to the community”.
