‘He made eye contact with me’: Brazen thief steals ute
A man has watched a bold thief drive away in his brand new ute, in a brazen robbery at a work site in Melbourne’s north.
Stephen told Neil Mitchell he was unloading some gear on Blossom Drive in Greenvale about 6.45am this morning when he saw a car come speeding towards the site.
“I’ve seen a Ford Ranger come flying down the street, cut across the road and he’s parked right next to my car,” he said.
Stephen said a young man in a fluoro jacket made eye contact with him before getting into his 2017 Mitsubishi Triton.
Stephen tried to run after him.
“I got to about two metres away from him and I fell on the asphalt and he took off,” he said.
All Stephen’s belongings were still in the utility; including his keys, phone and tools.
The vehicle’s registration is 1JW 3JV.
