The days of oBikes littering Melbourne’s streets, parks and waterways could be over according to Lord Mayor Robert Doyle.

He’s told Neil Mitchell Melbourne City Council will start impounding bicycles that have been abandoned across the city.

At the weekend council officers started wrapping discarded bikes in tape,  similar to a crime scene.

The bikes have been left up trees, as seen above at Windsor station, dumped in the Yarra and even stacked up in the middle of Albert Park lake.

3AW Breakfast’s Kate Stevenson sent in this photo from Williamstown Road, where the bikes have been left on the road.

“We have decided we will start impounding these bikes,” the Lord Mayor said.

“If we can’t come to an agreement then we will take pretty serious action.”

Mayor of Port Phillip Bernadene Voss also said council was ‘pretty fed up’ with oBikes.
