Veteran sports broadcaster Drew Morphett dies aged 69
Veteran sports broadcaster Drew Morphett has died, aged 69.
Morphett was found by wife Karen at their Pakenham home late Friday night.
It is believed Morphett had been watching the AFL match between Hawthorn and the Western Bulldogs.
Long-time friend and colleague Tim Lane said he was deeply shocked by the news.
“I learnt a lot from Drew. A lot of it was good!” Tim said.

Morphett, who was born in Sydney and grew up in the Cronulla region, celebrated his 69th birthday on Tuesday.
He has been a sports broadcasting institution since taking on a traineeship in the 1960s.
Morphett has most recently been calling football on 6PR, appearing on 3AW as recently as last week for GWS v West Coast match alongside Shane McInnes (pictured below).
