The importation of green prawns into Australia will be suspended following an outbreak of white spot disease in Queensland.

And not before time, says one Australian industry insider.

Helen Jenkins is the CEO of the Australian Prawn Farmers Association and told 3AW Drive she’d been pushing for a ban for almost a decade.

‘We knew it was a risk,’ she said.
