A 20-year-old man is in custody after a 17-year old girl was hit over the head with a bottle in the CBD.

Police were called to an apartment block on City Road at Southbank shortly after 4am on Thursday.

The 17-year-old has been taken to hospital with a laceration to the head – the man was arrested nearby.
