AFL boss Gillon McLachlan says stripping media members of their accreditation when they “make things up” is worth looking at.

It follows a report from Perth suggesting Fremantle coach Ross Lyon had approached Collingwood about replacing Nathan Buckley.

All parties have furiously denied the story, with Buckley questioning the reporter’s right to retain his AFL media accreditation.

McLachlan said it wasn’t a bad idea, telling 3AW that journalists, reporters and commentators had to be accountable for what they said and wrote.

“Taking accreditation away seems to me to be a fairly logical outcome,” McLachlan said.

“I think it’s worth looking at.”
