Former coach says Gold Coast can’t “give away” Ablett
Sacked Suns coach Rodney Eade holds no ill will towards his former club.
Eade, removed as coach after 63 games at the helm, defended the Suns amid criticism they are “soulless” and play without passion.
“Sometimes losing masks the good things that are being done,” he told 3AW Football on Friday night.
“I don’t like it but I respect it.
“I wish the club all the best… I’ve got no animosity at all.”
Eade said the Suns can’t afford to just “give away” Gary Ablett.
“Gary’s a chance to win the Best & Fairest,” Eade said.
“I think he’s still got two years left in him.”
Eade said the Suns won’t accept pick 88 in the way Hawthorn traded away club legend Sam Mitchell.
