A woman has been stabbed in a brazen robbery at Carlton North.

3AW Drive was alerted to the incident by Mike, who said he saw the woman – covered in blood – being carried into an ambulance.

“It’s quite full-on,” he said from the scene, on the corner of Nicholson and Pigdon streets.

Police said a man, armed with a knife, stabbed a female attendant before stealing a cash register and fleeing on foot.

The victim is in a serious, but stable, condition.
