3AW listener angered when his one-off donation was withdrawn again

TOM ELLIOTT

A man has been left angry after his one-off donation was withdrawn again.

3AW listener Ray spent $125 on tickets in the Royal Melbourne Hospital home lottery in April, but was shocked to find the charity had charged his credit card for the same amount again in July.

Ray told Tom Elliott he was happy to help the good cause – but didn’t intend to the payments to be ongoing.

“It’s almost deception or fraud,” Ray said.

“I didn’t sign up to be a member for life.”

The RMH responded with a statement, saying the lottery operates on a “member model”.

“People can sign up to automatically to receive their tickets at the commencement of each lottery,” the statement said.

If anyone feels they have been incorrectly debited for tickets is asked to contact the Royal Melbourne Hospital Foundation on 9342 7111 or info@rmhhomelottery.com.au
