Three prisoners escape from Beechworth prison
Three prisoners have escaped from the minimum security prison at Beechworth.
It’s not yet clear how the three men – Billy Sperling, 25, Thomas Smith, 27, and Geoffrey Pennell, 34 – got away.
They’re understood to have escaped on Tuesday night.
Senior Sergeant Gary Barton told Tom Elliott it is believed the inmates escaped through a window.
“It’s a minimum security facility, so, it has to be expected, I guess,” Mr Barton said.
