Independent MP and reality TV personality, Timothy Smith, has performed a dramatic citizen’s arrest in Prahran this afternoon.

Police have arrested a teenager who was allegedly armed with a machete, with the Married At First Sight star taking action and chasing down the 14-year-old.

“I’m more annoyed with seeing this on the news day after day, week after week, it just pissed me off,” Smith told Jacqui Felgate on 3AW Drive.

Victoria Police have released the following statement:

Police have arrested a teenager who was allegedly armed with a machete in Prahran on Friday, 11 April.

Officers were called to reports of two teenage boys, one armed with a machete, chasing another boy on Izett Street just before 3pm.

A witness detained one of the boys until police arrived while the others fled the scene.

A 14-year-old boy from the greater Mildura area has been arrested and will now be interviewed.

Officers have also seized a machete.

Investigations remain ongoing.
