‘Deeply sorry’: Jacinta Allan apologises as she promises the toughest bail laws in Australia

Premier Jacinta Allan has apologised to Victorians on 3AW Drive as she promises the toughest bail laws in the country.
The Premier told Jacqui Felgate she’s “deeply, deeply sorry” to the victims of crime in particular, stating “community safety is now the number one principle”.
“The announcement today has come from listening to the views of many Victorians,” Ms Allan said.

The Premier stated the new bail reforms will be introduced into parliament next Tuesday, and would love to see the parliament “move with the same urgency in bringing this package together”.
“Regardless of age, this is about making it very clear, if you’re a repeat offender, well you are going to face tougher tests, the toughest bail laws in the country,” she said.
