Tony Jones says Australians are sick of putting up with the National Broadband Network’s (NBN) “crap service”, questioning the timing of Monday’s funding announcement.

The Albanese government announced it is pledging $3 billion into the NBN, just weeks before the election is expected to be called.

Tony Jones said it was interesting timing considering Australians are about to head to the polls.

“I think it’s all very well for the Prime Minister to get up there and beat his chest (about the announcement),” he said on 3AW Drive.

“Isn’t it a coincidence this announcement comes (months) before an election.”
