The CFA has warned Boxing Day and Friday will bring catastrophic and extreme fire conditions as firefighters battle a significant bushfire in the Grampians.

CFA Chief Officer Jason Hefferman says firefighters have been able to “dig deep” into pre-existing bushfires, including one at Bullengarook, which is now contained.

“We’re trying everything we can to get the community ready, we’re trying everything we can to get emergency services,” he told 3AW Mornings.
