Tom Elliott clashes with refugee activist over Australians stranded in Syrian detention camp
Forty Australian women and children are currently trapped in a detention camp in Syria, and are calling for repatriation, after originally making the decision to move to Syria during the rule of Islamic State.
Refugee Action Coalition activist Mark Goudkamp joined 3AW Mornings and clashed with host Tom Elliott in a heated conversation about the Australians stranded in Syria, and whether they should be allowed to return to Australia.

“You use the word chose, I think that’s not always the case that there was choice involved and there are deep regrets from those who did,” Mr Goudkamp said.
Tom Elliott then responded by saying “most of these kids have never been to Australia, they were born over there and in many cases their mothers burnt their (Australian) passports.”
Elliott continued saying “one kid watched his dad hack off the head of someone he just killed”.
