An American golfer is making a last-minute dash to Melbourne after being given a late entry into the Australian Open.

Michael Miller was informed on Tuesday that he was the last person accepted into the prestigious golfing event, which begins at Kingston Heath on Thursday.

As revealed on The Rumour File, Miller had less than 48 hours to travel from New York to Melbourne to take his place.

“I’ve never been to Melbourne and heard so many good things about Victoria and Kingston Heath,” he told 3AW Breakfast while on a long-haul flight to Australia.
