According to the financial review, executives at ASX-listed companies have privately instructed recruiters to only shortlist women for senior roles to meet “diversity targets”.

Recruiters have stated that their clients have asked them to conduct “female-only” searches to fill job vacancies.

3AW Mornings host Tom Elliott completely disagrees with it and he said “I almost fell over when I read this.”

“If you are a female business executive, is this really what you want?” Elliott said on 3AW Mornings.

Chris Karagounis managing partner of executive search firm ‘Alex Kaar’ has personal experience with companies instructing him to exclude male candidates because they “must appoint a female”.

“I will always ensure that we produce a list of people that represent all genders,” Karagounis said on 3AW Mornings.
