Tom Elliott has called out the AFL for double standards after they handed down penalties to several Giants players following the now infamous ‘Wacky Wednesday’ post-season event last month.

Josh Fahey, Jake Riccardi, Joe Fonti, Toby McMullin, Harvey Thomas and the recently delisted Cooper Hamilton were handed match suspensions, while captain Toby Greene, as well as Lachie Whitfield, Connor Idun, Sam Taylor, Tom Green and Lachie Keeffe were all fined.

Whitfield and Idun dressed up and performed a skit from the movie Django Unchained, and Tom Elliott was mystified the pair was fined specifically, yet players who take illicit drugs are given more leeway.

“The AFL tolerates drugs use amongst players,” he said on 3AW Mornings.

“But comes down hard in this case – where two players who (enacted) two scenes from a movie.”
