Major funding boost to bird flu response
The federal government is ramping up it’s efforts to protect agriculture industries from a deadly strain of bird flu.
Australia remains the only continent without an outbreak of the H5N1 strain, which has killed millions of birds and mammals globally since 2021.
An additional 95 million dollars is being rolled out to strengthen biosecurity measures, improve communications and enhance surveillance.
Rural Reporter Dusty Fitzpatrick spoke with the Invasive Species Council Advocacy Director Jack Gough about the funding.
