National Australia Bank (NAB) CEO Andrew Irvine says he’s committed to keeping branches open, but admits it’s his responsibility to manage resources.

More people are continuing to bank digitally, sparking concern that banks will look to keep shutting in-person banking outlets.

Mr Irvine, who has only recently become CEO of NAB, said it was a fine balance to keep all customers happy.

“In the six months I’ve seen CEO we haven’t shut a branch,” he told Tom Elliott.

“The challenge is more people are doing their banking digitally and fewer are going in a branch.”
