University of Melbourne physics professor Steven Prawer has spoken out in an articulate interview on 3AW Drive, after the shocking attack on his office by protesters at the university earlier in the week.

The story first broke on the program yesterday, and Professor Prawer said he’s “very sad” after the attack, but won’t let the protesters make him feel unsafe.

“I just shake my head in sorrow that we can have students on campus that have these sort of attitudes,” he told Jacqui Felgate.

Victoria Police have released the following statement:

Police attended a university in Parkville on 9 October in relation to around 25 people attending a staff members private office just before 1pm.

Those in the office initially refused to leave after on campus security direction.

Police attended and they complied and left the office a short time later.
