Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is reportedly looking to scale back negative gearing laws, with one economist tipping this could be good news for first home buyers.

Chief Economist and co-founder of MacroBusiness Leith van Onselen explained on 3AW Drive how the new laws would look, as well as what they might mean.

“The idea behind this is to reduce investor demand in the market,” he told Jacqui Felgate.

“This would then give more room for first home buyers to purchase properties.”
