Leigh Matthews has branded long-term contracts “head in the noose recruiting”.

North’s Chairman Ben Buckley all but confirmed the club would offer Kelly a nine-year deal on 3AW on Friday night.

Matthews said it would be reckless – but that that’s not always a bad thing.

“Sometimes you’ve got to be reckless,” Lethal said.

“You can’t play safety first all the time.”
