Outgoing former federal Labor leader Bill Shorten says he’s adamant the current government is doing all it can to fight the cost of living crisis.

Mr Shorten announced he will leave parliament in the coming months to take up a new role as Vice Chancellor at the University of Canberra.

In a wide-ranging interview with 3AW Mornings, he said he want confident Labor was doing “everything it can” to be re-elected when Australians go to the polls.

“The tax cuts which have flowed through now flow through to 13.7 million people,” Mr Shorten told Tom Elliott about recently-announced cost of living relief.

“People would want to think that their politicians would fight for them and that’s what we’re doing.”
