‘Not ideal’: Carlton taking big risk with Sam Docherty return according to sports doctor
Renowned sports doctor Dr Peter Larkins says Carlton is taking an ‘extraordinary’ risk playing Sam Docherty just six months after he ruptured his ACL.
The inspirational Carlton defender will make his return to play in Saturday night’s Elimination Final against Brisbane at the Gabba, less than 200 days after sustaining the serious knee injury at the same venue.

“From a pure medical point of view it’s an extraordinary time frame (to return),” Larkins said on Wide World of Sports.
“Six months is not ideal…but in September footy extraordinary decisions are made when the stakes are high.”
