Victoria is counting the cost after a damaging and fatal 24 hours of wild weather.

100km/h winds battered parts of the state overnight, while one woman died after a tree crashed into a cabin she was occupying in Moama.

State Emergency Service (SES) State Duty Officer Tim Wiebusch said the Frankston and La Trobe Valley areas were the hardest hit.

“It’s pretty much planned out on par with what we we anticipating,” Mr Wiebusch said on 3AW Drive.

Sky News Weather Meteorologist Alison Osborne told Jacqui Felgate a calmer Tuesday was forecast after an unpredictable Monday.
