Tom Elliott says Eric Andre’s rant after being searched at Melbourne Airport is purely attention-seeking and has nothing to do with racism.

The well-known American comedian and actor says he was racially profiled after landing in the country, but Tom Elliott says standard biosecurity procedures have “nothing to do with race”.

“Of course Eric Andre has form (at airports having been stopped in Atlanta in 2021),” Tom said on 3AW.

“This is biosecurity, the people in charge of preventing plant and animal matter is a vital job and has nothing to do with race.

“I suspect Eric Andre does this to fire people up on social media.”
