‘It wasn’t oh dear’: Ian Thorpe reacts to Kyle Chalmers claiming silver in 100m freestyle
Kyle Chalmers has made it three podiums in the last three Olympics, winning the silver medal in the 100m freestyle final.
Australian swimming legend Ian Thorpe joined 3AW Breakfast following day five of the 2024 Olympics.
He was asked about Chalmers’ silver medal result, where he was beaten by China’s Pan Zhanle who broke the world record and won by the biggest margin in this event since 1928.
“It wasn’t oh dear, but Kyle had a bad start. It didn’t shock me where he was, because we knew he would be hunting down Pan Zhanle,” Thorpe said on 3AW.
