Australia’s only Tour De France winner Cadel Evans has provided an in-depth insight into the training required to win one of the world’s more grueling sporting events
His win back in 2011 remains one of the country’s most revered sporting wins, telling Ross and Russ cyclists have to “hurt themselves” before some stages of the three week race in order to be ready to go each day.

“We have to open everything up (in the warm up),” he said on 3AW Breakfast.
“You hurt yourself on the trainer before – you’re going at time trial speed for a minute and then you recover from that.”
