Leigh Matthews has unpacked Essendon’s “shocking” loss to Adelaide on Friday night, saying they simply have too many players who you can’t trust week to week.

The Bombers conceded the last three goals of the game to lose by two points and now face the prospect of exiting the top eight once Round 19 is completed.

“That is a shocking way to lose and there’s going to be a lot of unhappy Bombers people,” he said on 3AW Football.

“The problem…they’ve been pretty good all year. But they have a lot of players that you just can’t trust.”
