WHAT WE KNOW: World in shock following suspected Trump assassination attempt
The world has been left in shock after a suspected assassination attempt on former US president Donald Trump in Pennsylvania on Sunday (AEST).
Shortly after 6pm local time, several shots rang out at a rally, with Mr Trump taking cover as chaos unfolded, before emerging with his ear covered in blood as he was whisked away from the scene.
Mr Trump later said in a statement that a bullet “pierced the upper part of my right ear”, while Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese later labelling the incident “an inexcusable attack” during an address in Canberra.
